I’m inclined towards watching it as well, in that whole “Witness to History” kind of feeling. I really have no idea what he’s planning to say, or what he’ll end up saying regardless of that plan, but it feels like this is a watershed moment that might just define the next few years of US, and probably world, history. And the edited bits won’t have quite the same impact. “They’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats”, when it hit live, was a complete shock, a “Did he actually say that? Holy shit, he did!” moment. I don’t know if he’ll top that, or if it will just be his usually whiny blather, but it feels like it might be important to witness this. ---

Y’know, I am now picturing the “media reaction” channels on YouTube trying to deal with this as they do with a movie or song or someone else’s own video, and then the inevitable “top reactions compilation”. I will probably watch with the sound turned down and the captioning on. My general span of tolerance for stuff like this is about 10 minutes. If he hasn’t said anything of significance before my patience runs out, I’ll turn it off and read the recap later. I doubt seriously that Trump has a sense of the dramatic that LBJ had when he waited until the end of his speech to drop his big news. I generally can’t stand to watch and listen to politicians, but he’s in a class by himself in that department. I keep wanting to grab him by the lapels and give him a vigorous shaking while screaming “Finish a fucking sentence, you blithering idiot!” So obviously I won’t be watching it. My guess as to what it’ll be about: wagging the dog. That is, he’ll declare war on Venezuela in order to distract everyone from the Epstein files to be released on Friday. Yes, I know the Constitution says that’s Congress’ job, but when have such niggling details ever bothered him? ---

My prediction is tonight’s speech will mostly be intended to gaslight the American public that the economy is in fact going wonderfully (and pay no heed to those reports by a few malcontents that your health insurance premiums are tripling in a couple weeks). The GOP won bigly a year ago and will win bigly again in a year thanks to my tariffs, the death of evil men like Rob Reiner, windmill construction being down 432% since taking office, and can you imagine how bad it would be if Hillary had won, and this terrible economy is the fault of Nancy Pelosi and the democrat party, and the Dow Jones is breaking new records every day because of this great economy which I created, and we all need to unite together as a country in our hatred of whomever I name and I’m releasing a new series of Patriot-themed non-fungible tokens…. ---
