Fictional things aren’t scary, after all… Yeah, the notion is a liiiiiiiii’l bit older than widespread atheism. Funnily enough, you live in the place that is currently famous for Fire and Brimstone preachers, and for their export thereof. That’s what they preach: that God is an old asshole holding a lightning bolt (that Theos dude has a curious family resemblance to ol’ Zeus), sitting on a cloud in the sky eagerly awaiting for His creatures to screw up so He can do some (minor) smiting (He’s also planning a big smiting but this one requires more paperwork). ---
