Well, they formally have sometimes been referred to as “Articles in amendment to the Constitution” but only a few constitutional geeks use that terminology. 🙂 ---

There’s a notion of “time and place” and most people will respect that. Bringing it up later is similarly boorish, because nobody wants to reopen old wounds and undo the healing process, because unity is the most important thing and some people are still dealing with the results. A clever combination of those tactics can foreclose on any uncomfortable discussion and paint your political enemies as the worst kind of opportunists. Happily, Donald “David Duke” Trump is too stupid to do anything similar to that. I’m just waiting for the man himself to open his fool mouth and give me something new to laugh at. ---

It’s possible to pick up an utterly lunatic form of knowledge about the Articles of Confederation from the right sort of right-wingers. At least some of the Sovereign Citizens believe that the Articles of Confederation are still in force, and that they’re being suppressed by the Jewish Interests conspiring to keep the white man down. The fact this makes no sense and is stupid merely means it fits in with the entire rest of their worldview and every single one of their opinions. I’d normally say that ideas like these could never penetrate into a Presidential candidate’s campaign, but when you have a campaign which literally uses images pulled from /pol/, a lot of the normal rules go out the window. ---

There was an article on CNN I think but I can’t be bothered looking for it because the essence of it is really simple: the Donald was asked if it’s possible that he might win the election and then just decide not to serve. This is the sort of thing that appeals to this idiot’s enormous ego and salves his equally enormous insecurities. He basically said, sure, it’s possible, and when Mark Cuban suggested $5 billion would be the price that could get him to drop his election bid, he acknowledged that, too. What a total asswipe. Says a lot about his motivations and the regard in which he holds his country. I cannot believe anyone could ever really vote for this psychotic self-obsessed hateful jackass. ---
