So it looks like Trump simply went to a doctor he knew and presumably gave him a hefty “consulting fee” to sign the letter that Trump had pre-written. Does Trump even have a GP? Why would a GI specialist know about (for example) Trump’s heart health? ---

That part is probably actually true; IIRC, Trump’s brother was an alcoholic and died young, and it left him freaked out about ever drinking alcohol himself, although he doesn’t have a problem with other people, including his children, drinking it. ---

Quite a few very driven people are resolutely anti-drug/intoxicants (I can think of Gene Simmons and Penn Gillette off the top of my head), and I think Trump fits that mold. And as for Trump selling vodka but not trying it, well, it’s not as if he attended his own “university” … ---

Yeah, it’s quite plausible. It doesn’t have to be, or only be, a big moral issue; some people just don’t get into booze, and it is an acquired taste that a lot of people decide is just too much bother to acquire. I find wine and liquor repulsive, and if you told me I wasn’t allowed to have my very occasional beer ever again I wouldn’t bat an eye. I don’t have a problem with other people drinking, I’m just not super into it. ---

Incidentally, [this NY Times article](http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/17/us/politics/early-voting-limits-donald-trumps-time-to-turn-campaign-around.html?_r=0) makes a good point: there’s still talk as if Trump has plenty of time to recover from his slow and sickening train wreck. Nov. 8 is just under three months, away, right? Not really. Early voting starts in as soon as six weeks. In 2012, according to the article, nearly a third of voters submitted their ballots early. Trump is very nearly out of time. Of course, it’s debatable whether any amount of time would help him at this point. ---

See, Giuliani remembers 911, since he almost died then, it was that he was using [that abbreviated language that all speech givers use.](http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/rudy-giuliani-no-attacks-9-11-227067) Really, his statement that "“Under those eight years, before Obama came along, we didn’t have any successful radical Islamic terrorist attack in the United States,” was taken out of context. Abbreviated language, lying-- what’s the diff? ---
