Another flaw is that the VP-elect is sworn in first. That covers the brief time between the outgoing President’s term ending at noon and the President- elect being sworn in.

Christ, these Obama doomsday prophets don’t stop do they? All I heard in 2008 was the end of the world predictions if Obama was president. Then again in 2012 how if he got a second term we would all be doomed and life as we knew it would be destroyed. Now the guy has 4 months left and they’re predicting utter chaos happening when he remains president (not happening).
If you want a good laugh google 2008 Obama predictions. It’s ridiculous.

The good news for these folks is that they can simply recycle these predictions for the next 8 years of a Clinton presidency. They can simply re-use the same shit. I can’t wait for the “Clinton Birther” group to form.

There are inexplicably minority supporters of Trump and today’s GOP. I would normally agree that it’s condescending and patronizing for me to lecture minorities on whom they should vote for, but not in this case. Like the Jews who support the GOP just because they see republicans “Stand with Israel” – pffffff, like these guys are ever going to be anything other than white supremacists. Supporting Trump is voting against your own interests – even if you’re an angry white christian baby boomer.

Pretty straighforward theory that makes sense to me;
Basically, the USA is doing really well in the Olympics. [100 medals](http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/olympics/rio-2016/2016/08/19/us-team-100-rio-medals-london-michael-phelps-ryan-lochte-carl-lewis/88992816/), on pace to top the haul from London 4 years ago. Lots of really wonderful, feel good stories about winners. America is WINNING!
This goes against everything The Donald is campaigning about. He must convince everyone that the US is LOSING.

I see that the article mentions that “the Russians are being torched”, but no mention to one factor of why also Trump is not comenting IMHO. With doping scandals following them it makes Putin sad too. Would not be prudent for Trump to tweet reminders of that to his undercover Ruskie friends. 😉

This is really funny, but is it bad that part of me reads this and sort of drifts into a reverie in which I drool at the prospect of actually being able to do, for realsies, exactly what you describe? :o I know it’s wrong, but it would feel so so right. 😃
ETA: I preferred the original version without the sexual threat, and although I won’t change it back 'cause I’m not sposeta, I thought that’s what I was quoting until I happened to notice otherwise after responding.

…and that in any case if for any reason the President-elect cannot take office (but remains alive and constitutionally qualified), the VP-elect steps in as Acting President immediately
(XXth Amendment section 3: _"If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, **or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified** _")
This because the VP-elect’s swearing-in is NOT dependent on the President-elect’s, s/he runs in a joint ticket but per the Constitution is legally _ **chosen individually by the Electors and sworn in in his/her own right** _.
XIIth Amendment:
The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, _ **and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each** _, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate; – the President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted; – The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President […] **The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed** , and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President…

From the language of the XXth Amendment:
The terms of the President and the Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; **and the terms of their successors shall then begin**. _(emphasis added by me)_
The public verbal oath is a ceremonial formality. But indeed the VP is sworn in first in case something were to happen to the Top Gun at 1201h.
