Actually, the oath (public or not) is entirely necessary. Art. II, cl. 8 of the Constitution provides that the President “shall take” the oath “\*\*efore he enters the Execution of his Office…”

Nice.
We should just start calling her a death-eater, and ask her if she pledges herself to Voldemort.
In 2013, she also said that this “corrupt country has a head Negro in charge”. This is what Trump has working for him now.

I’m pretty sure this will be the next big thing.
It fits: Obama had Birthers. He’s black, after all, and you can’t have a black be an American. Not a Full, True-Blooded American, anyway. (This ties in with the whole “Fourteenth-Amendment Citizens” argument from the lunatic fringe portions of the Internet.) Now, Clinton will have Strict Interpretationists. She’s a woman, and women can’t rule. Says so in the Bible, but, for some ungodly reason, the Bible isn’t the Constitution, so they’ll have to hang their hats on gender-specific language in a document written back when coverture was still good law and not updated. But they’re not sexist, no, they’re just adults who Respect The Law. And they’ll continue to Respect The Law as long as That Woman is in the White House.
It never really changes. The only consolation is how marginal they’re becoming: The country as a whole is a shade away from electing the first openly gay President and they’re still angry that blacks are considered human beings in a court of law.

And the oath can be taken by signing a written form in the morning of the 20th.
That taking office or public employment or enlisting requires an “oath” just strikes me as so quaint in 2016, though I understand why it is required that there be some sort of formal assertion that “I know what I’m getting into and it’s my hide if I don’t fulfill it”.

This same Katrina was arrested for shoplifting, for which she’s unrepentant: she needed the clothes she stole. This is the same Katrina who thinks it was Obama and not GWB who first invaded Afghanistan — when corrected she had some disclaimer about Gotcha details or some such. The only political position mentioned on her Wiki page is that she wants Texas to secede. But Trump appointed her “national spokesperson for his campaign.”
The mind boggles at the scale of Trumpist incompetence. Shame on all who still endorse this oaf.

Yikes. At some point the only plausible explanation is that he’s playing a sick game with some other billionaire: “OK, double or nothing on that last $million. I’ll bet I can hand out … oh, Play-Doh! … to flood victims and \*still \*not tank in the polls!”

Couldn’t see well enough. Those packages Trump was unloading were colorful in a way I associated with boxes designed to appeal to children, a box that says “Fun Inside!” to kids and parents. Nothing so mundane and dull and grown-up as food, or diapers, stuff like that. But Play-Doh? Seriously, Play-Doh?
Didn’t he look? Was there no spark in his brain pan that said “This is the Photo Op That Sux the Big One!”? Was there no one tasked with “optics”, someone to make sure that Il Douche was seen unloading Important Stuff?

That said, time to protect my vast reserves of non-partisan cred. Such as it were.
A shout-out to the Avatar of Frumpy, the irreplaceable Mark Shields. Noting that, indeed, Obama was right not to impose himself in LA and draw needed resources to his advantage, damn straight and no too ways about it.
But Mark notes that the President should have done _something_ to draw more attention to the crisis, a national consolation and promise of help to the distressed. He didn’t, and I have no idea why. And Mark appropriately scolded him for it. Bless his heart, he _does_ mean well. And someone could buy him a $3,000 tailored suit and have him dressed by Mr Wooster’s man Jeeves, and it would instantly look as if he had slept in it for two days.

The way Mark put it was to emphasize the Presidents role as “Consoler in Chief”, dispenser of hope. Granted, a demonstration of limited practical value, but nonetheless worthy, and needful. It should have been done, and it wasn’t. Somebody fucked up. And the fuck stops with him.
