I agree about getting back to the discussion on Donald Trump.
But not before mentioning that the type of attack that some of us on this board were making on Ann Coulter (much as I dislike her) is exactly the kind of attack that Donald Trump tends to make on any woman who gets on his nerves.
Which is one of many reasons many of us find Donald Trump abhorrent.

Though Rachel did end with an untruism. After cajoling Trump to come on her show, she said he wouldn’t regret it. Regrets, he’s had a few, but _that_ would be number one!

I know you said you would drop it, so I just want to make one note here. It ain’t about giving Coulter the dignity she deserves; it’s about giving women, especially transwomen, the dignity to not have their gender be wielded as an insult. Call Coulter all the names you want, as long as you’re not calling her names that shouldn’t be insults.

Open up a Pit thread or something, will ya?
Coulter can not be insulted a) because she’s ugly. Even though we regularly tear into Trump for his bad hair and pursed-pussy mouth. B) because of her Adam’s Apple. Because this somehow is offensive to trans persons.
Lay out the ground rules for insulting this human shitstain, please. I’d hate to attack the shitstain in an inappropriate manner.

No one is attacking you. You just didn’t seem to understand the actual issue, so the guy tried to explain it.
You didn’t attack her for being ugly. You, along with some other posters, attacked her by saying she’s not really a woman. This is completely different.
That insult has a history of being used to disparage women. It’s still used today to blast Hillary Clinton. The Doper **jsgoddess** has apparently experienced it herself, as I’m sure many female dopers have.
It’s not about class. It’s that it carries with it baggage of misogyny. And even possibly transphobia. How many trans women have been told they aren’t really women?
Again, this is not an attack on you. It is just trying to get across what the problem is. It’s not about there being acceptable and unacceptable insults for horrible people.
It’s that, when you attacked Ann Coulter in this way, you attacked all women. You said it’s okay to consider a woman to not really be a woman.
I won’t say it’s equivalent, but a similar situation is when a guy in the Pit called Bill Cosby a nigger. That wasn’t bad because of class. It wasn’t bad because there are some rules of what insults are out of bounds. It was bad because he attacked all black people with that remark, acting like “nigger” was ever an acceptable insult.
I have zero desire to pit you. I don’t think you are a bigot. I think you just said the same sort of stuff a lot of people say, without realizing how it came across.
Plus you apologized, and that says a lot.
And if this comes across as condescending, then I just don’t know what the hell to do to fix it.

And now to get back to Trump. I wanted to point this out. Seth Meyers wanted to cover the Email scandal, but he still spent half the segment talking about Trump. I actually started to wonder if he’d lied in the title to get Trump supporters to listen.
I wasn’t sure whether to put this in Trump’s thread or Clinton’s. But I’ll put it here, along with [this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upls5liXVfs) where he covers how even Trump supporters don’t like him anymore.

I was disappointed that Rachel failed to call her out about her repeated remarks about Clinton’s approval ratings being so bad. Yeah it’s true, but they are still way better than Trump’s.

To absolutely nobody’s surprise, [Chicago police deny that Trump met with a Top Cop who told him he could fix crime in a week](http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/chicago-police-respond-donald-trump-chicago-violence-can-be-stopped-in-a-week-391116511.html). Other sources confirm that this non-existent cop’s name was reported to be John Miller and that he also mentioned how Trump had the most positive medical results he’d ever seen.
