I certainly agree with her calling him that, I was just pointing out that I hope it will have the added benefit of baiting him into digging himself into a deeper hole by ranting about all of the reckless and impossible things he will do as CIC in order to keep America “safe.”

His answer on this was frankly childish “we’ll just take it and leave some people there”. What you mean, Cheeto cocksplat, is that you will invade and occupy a sovereign nation indefinitely, with US troops on the ground facing constant insurgent attacks, indefinitely. You’d be lucky if the value of the oil actually payed for the cost of keeping a sufficient occupation force there. The supply chain is pretty damn long and it’s not cheap to occupy a nation on the other side of the world indefinately, that’s why no one has ever done it.

Yes, it is pretty far out there. The notion that one can seize the natural assets of a sovereign nation should be disqualifying. Sometimes I lie awake at night trying to figure out why even one person takes this idiot seriously.

Works OK if you make them pay for it. England had a rather longish run at it. Spain and France, bronze and silver medals, respectively. Germany never quite got the knack.

Costs of keeping an army overseas were rather lower then compared to the demands of the modern US military. Yes you could do a cheapish occupation force that sources everything locally and uses local contractors as much as possible, but that’s not how the US armed forces work. They keep a logistics chain going all the way back to the US for almost everything, and bring in foreign contractors en masse, and it adds up very very quickly. A billion here, a billion there, soon you’re talking about real money !

I’m starting to think a lot of people just want life to be black and white, and like a candidate who deals in black and white. No grey. It’s easier that way. Someone who gives simple answers, so you don’t have to think too hard.
They think a simple solution to a complicated problem is soothing. And their comfort is all that matters.
“I don’t understand gay and trans people so I don’t want to have to hear about them or help them.”
“Brown people are blowing people up so they must all be stopped/isolated/avoided no matter what.”
“I’m a Christian, so that’s the only religion that matters.”
“I’m underpaid/unemployed, so that means America is being run into the ground.”
“I always respect police and they never harass or hurt me, so if everyone does that, they’ll be fine.”
“We have a black president, so racism can’t exist.”
“Abortion is murder, and that’s the absolute worst thing ever.”
“Taxes mean I have less money, so taxes are bad.”
“My personal freedom to do whatever the fuck I want whenever the fuck I want to is all that matters.”
“I was born in America, so I don’t care to deal with people who weren’t.”
And on and on and on…Anyone that tries to interject a “Yeah, but…” is a pussy and hates America. I’ve had actual conversations with family members that end like this.

ISIS has held territory in both Iraq and Syria for a long time now, as far as I know they still hold territory in Iraq. Presumably he meant occupying the oil fields in both Iraq and Syria to cut off ISIS of income (I’m being extremely generous to cheeto cocksplat here). Keep in mind the oil fields are spread over a vast area with no natural boundaries to form a defensive buffer. You’d need 100’s of thousands of troops to hold them long term, probably at least 300, 000
Never mind the cost, Im sure that Cheeto Cocksplat’s BFF Putin would be just fine with the US occupying and holding oil fields in Syria. What a surprise, he didn’t really think that through… :smack:

I don’t even understand what “take the oil” means. How? The oil isn’t something that can be transported, except tanker-by-tanker. To actually get the wealth of the oil, we’d need to control the oil fields, plus the territory from the pipelines to the sea, plus the seaports. That would require a massive force to hold, whether short term or long term, and would probably violate the Geneva Convention and a host of other international agreements as well.

Trump will just give the Generals 30 days to get a plan together to make it happen, and the Dept. of Law talking people 30 days to make it legal.

Started as a Sunni resistance movement in Iraq, Syria by metastasizing. The Syrian elite are largely Alawite, a sub-set of Shia Islam which makes them fair game, so far as ISIS and AlQ are concerned.
Humans complicate simple things, mindless hatred is no exception.
