The TPM article was confusing, but I thought OAN had actually released a new poll today with the same results as the May poll.

ETA:

> [@TPM](#):

> While a May 10 Gravis/OANN poll did show Trump polling at 49 percent support compared to 51 percent support for Clinton, a survey by the pollster released Friday also found that same result. Trump appeared to obtain and tweet the results of the June 16 Gravis/OANN poll before it was released publicly, creating confusion.

With the exact same results as the May 10 poll?

> If it were somehow painted as discriminatory based on race, religion, etc. (ironic considering the plan’s target), I suppose there could be a legal argument. Otherwise, there are no laws governing internal party rules that I know of.

Unsurprisingly, there already was a legal argument:

> **[White primary](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_primaries)**
>
> White primaries were primary elections held in the Southern United States in which only white voters were permitted to participate. Statewide white primaries were established by the state Democratic Party units or by state legislatures in South Carolina (1896), Florida (1902), Mississippi and Alabama (also 1902), Texas (1905), Louisiana and Arkansas (1906), and Georgia (1900). Since winning the Democratic primary in the South at the time almost always meant winning the general e The Texas Legisla...

I’ve seen some people argue that State laws governing how delegates are bound is not holding because it infringes free speech and some cite legal cases where the party’s own rules were the final word. Therefore none of the delegates are legally required to vote any specific way even on the first vote. Eg [http://www.nationalreview.com/article/436428/republican-convention-delegates-not-bound-donald-trump](http://www.nationalreview.com/article/436428/republican-convention-delegates-not-bound-donald-trump)

The problem is that the Republican’s own convention rules explicitly say the delegates do indeed have to vote according to State law or State party rules. So they’d have to kill or change [Rule 16](https://ballotpedia.org/Rule_16_and_its_impact_on_the_2016_Republican_National_Convention).

If they want to bad enough, they will just make something up, pass it, and call it kosher. Then they can call Romney and tell him the good news. What’s Trump going to do, sue them? Probably. How long will _that_ take, given the number of conflicting laws in play here? In betweentime, Romney becomes the Official Nominee of the Republican Party.

Only thing they have to do is guess, from five months out, which course of action would be least disastrous. If it were me, I’d bet dumping Il Douche is the smarter move, rattlesnake rather than cobra.

I would say that the Republican Party has a Trump problem. But an even bigger problem is that, no matter what they do, a lot of voters are still angry at both parties, and they will vote for their angry white hope in November. And they will froth at the mouth if the republicans strip him of his nomination.

p.s. Yes, I posted three Washington Post articles that are basically drowning Trump in negative attention. There are, in fact, many more. Keep trying to strong arm editors, Donald. Please.

Apparently it is real, at least as reported [via HuffPo](http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/polls/gravis-marketing-oan-24702). Result allowing for “other” is Clinton +5, no “other” allowed was that Clinton only +2. An RV poll. So pretty much the same as the CBS RV poll.

Oh it was Clinton +2 allowing for “other” in May. So a drop of 3.

Pretty sad that getting excited over that is where he is at right now.

The problem is that “they” are actual ~2500 random dudes. Some are “party officials” but there’s no reason to assume a majority will think flouting the primary process is a good idea or that “the establishment knows best”.

I apologize, I didn’t want people to think I was making shit up. But that’s not possible in 2016, right?
