Just checking in to say that I’ve lived in several parts of Canada, and visited most of the others, and that my knowledge of beer and wings is far from theoretical.and I’ve never seen or heard of this bizarre practice.
It is, however, the kind of thing that I can well imagine as part of a Kids in the Hall sketch.
Two comments:
From a Prairie perspective, I cannot imagine anyone befouling their beer with chicken wing grease and batter. Wings are okay, I suppose, but their main purpose is to make you thirsty so you appreciate the nectar of the brewer’s craft more.
Listen well, O children, to Rube E. Tewesday’s words of wisdom. I happen to know that he speaks from wide experience, crossing the Dominion from coast to coast to coast, in quest of the perfect cool one, but accepting reasonable runners-up as needed. 
:mad: Yet more morally weak gender confusion from our namby-pamby northern neighbors. Don’t make us come up there! We’ll put Marines on the street corners! I’m warning ya! 
McAuslan beer is good, as confirmed by these guys (99.3 rating for Oatmeal Stout).
