…For the lack of paper towels. For our restroom “upgrade” they have had me remove the paper towel dispensers and now I have to put in electric hand dryers. Yes, I hate them to. They dont get your hands dry plus I like a towel to wipe the excess dirt off that I could not wash off my hands. But they think they will save a buck. Not to mention its going to be a pain to run power to them. ---

So it’s your fault! Yeah, they did that at my work also. In fairness, the dryers work fine - lots of heat and air, probably almost as fast as grabbing some paper towels. They of course only installed one though, so people have to queue up to dry their hands. And I’ve got to wonder if the decibels that thing puts out violate some OSHA standard. On the plus side, you know if someone didn’t wash their hands, since you can hear the dryer on the entire floor. ---

Also, if you’d like to wash your face, (a) most electric hand dryers can’t be aimed up at the face, and (b) those that can, usually blow your hair every which way if you use them to dry your face. As far as cost is concerned, I don’t know which is cheaper, paper towels or electricity for the electric hand dryers, but they probably can clean the bathroom less often if paper towels aren’t accumulating on the floor. (ETA: And let’s face it, some of them will inevitably wind up on the floor.) Also, it seems like once every couple of weeks, I see where someone has left a paper towel in the toilet in one of the bathrooms at work. Replacing paper towels with hand dryers obviously reduces the risk of clogged toilets from that sort of stupidity. So I can understand why some places replace paper towels with electric hand dryers. I still don’t like it, though. ---

I know of at least two new public restrooms nearby that tried eliminating the paper towel dispenser, thinking they’d save on supplies and not have to empty a trash container. Didn’t work. The public made such a ruckus that they were reinstalled. I hate those blow-dry hand dryers. ---

The Dyson Airblade dB is great and works like a charm. I’d rather have paper towels than any other dryer. ---

I prefer paper towels as well, but we have someone in our office who insists on overstocking the dispenser, to where they are in there so tight, it’s a Herculean effort to remove a single towel. Every time I wash my hands, I feel like I’m Arthur, attempting to remove Excalibur from the stone. ---

I worked for several years at the corporate headquarters of a television shopping network that shall go unnamed. Grown, supposedly professional women could not be counted on to deposit their used paper towels in the trash receptacle so when our building had a massive remodel it was decided to install these turbo charged atomic hand dryers. I had the misfortune to sit in close proximity to the restroom and I might as well have had my cubicle in the middle of LAX airside B. Grrrrrrrrrr:mad: I never once, however, considered blaming the bathroom remodeler. It even crossed my mind to offer him sexual favors if he would disable the dryer. ---

A plumber I know did a business bathroom remodel and ended up with a coin-op tampon machine. He installed it in his home bathroom as a novelty item. Gets comments. ---

Biggest qualm I have about air dryers — or more specifically, the absence of paper towels — has to do with opening the bathroom door (which is guaranteed to have a handle that must be grasped). I can’t guess the number of people who have gone directly from bowel movement to the selfsame door handle I have to manipulate, but I’m pretty certain it’s greater than zero. ---

Why the \*hell \*can’t you get a urinal for a home bathroom? You can get a bidet, even though nobody uses them. But a simple goddam urinal? Nope. ---
