Don't have a car. Don't wanna car.

I know how to drive and have a learner’s permit but never got my license. Seeing as I spend most of my time in NYC and have most of the subways memorized, I don’t need one.

So there.

I’m 31, live in the SF Bay Area, and have no car. I don’t have a license, either. Everywhere I’ve needed to be, I could take public transportation or walk. I have a couple of friends who are more than willing to give me a ride to buy groceries and such.
I get plenty of exercise…at least I don’t have skinng chicken legs like a lot of drivers I know :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t have a car either. They’re just too small, and I don’t feel comfortable behind the wheel, especially in bad weather. That’s why I have a Jeep.

Well. Good to know I’m not completely alone in this!

I do try my durndest not to mooch unless I really need to go somewhere, say, the airport - and if I do, I will return the favor in one way or another.

Quicksilver, you’re right about the number of cars out there… Sometimes I see congested interstates or fully packed mall parking lots… and I see what looks like cars stretching of towards infinity, and all I can think is “too… many… damn… cars…”

Motorgirl, having been in a car in Boston, amongst all the traffic and construction, I’m glad there are alternatives - that looks like some scary driving situations there! (Or maybe it was the guy driving the car who was being scary…)

I’m being considered for a job in Nashville… time to do some research! If that doesn’t work out for whatever reason, I’m looking closely for jobs in the DC area, partially because of the good transit there.

There are some things I didn’t mention:

Canadian prices is one of them. The other I guess would be that the taxi company conducted the comparison between driving yourself and letting us do it for you.

75 to 100 bux an hour?..Back when the “study” was done , we charged 24 bux/hour.
