I’m curious about how the cops were (a) acting inappropriately by rubbernecking into the apartment and (b) were idiots for not knowing that since all the dishes were neatly stacked, they couldn’t have been thrown around. ---

Let me spell it out for you: the officers were haranged by the OP for rubbernecking into the apartment but were also haranged for not carefully observing the placement of objects in the apartment. The OP can’t have it both ways. ---

The OP can’t have it both ways. Huh? 😕 Taking the OP at her word, the officers weren’t “harangued” at all (note the spelling) – it appears she was the one being “harangued”. Nor is it in any way unreasonable to expect police officers who are peering into one’s apartment to at least limit their questions to asking about things that might plausibly have happened. You have failed to make sense. ---

Were you throwing plates at eachother?” Officers have to respond to calls, and peering in to your place is standard. Your psycho ex could be holding a gun, it could be a setup, anything at all really. They don’t have a gazing ball to stare into on their way over to show that you are just two people on a couch, minding your own business. They don’t want to be ambushed and they also don’t want to be explaining to their bosses how they answered a noise or domestic dispute call at your place, and two hours later one of you is now dead on the floor. You have a problem neighbor. Could you speak with the landlord about how someone keeps calling in false noise complaints? Flag down cops on patrol on your block and ask their “advice”? Request to hear the call to see if you can figure out who is doing this? Get a look at the call sheet and see if they left their name or apartment number? Go door to door in your building and ask if anyone else is hearing all this noise that isn’t coming from your apartment? ---
