Okay, well, I don’t listen to grunge rock, so I really wouldn’t know! ☹

Are you guys asking science questions just to stump me? I thought it was supposed to be the opposite!

Well, the first element on the periodic table is Hydrogen. It’s atomic number is 1… (Or atomic mass?) So, I guess that’s why it’s the first, other than statistics on the actual element.

1. Um, carbon comes from food I think. Oxygen from air, and hydrogen from water? Or… Something like that??

2. I have no idea!

3. It’s… scary. They suck you in to someplace no one knows of. It swallows everything, including light, right? I have had nightmares about black holes after watching Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman. Sheesh. :o

Yikes. I’ve done many heinous things in my time, but asking a child about sex toys isn’t one of them. The answers:

1. a “Stairway to Heaven”. It’s the second greatest rock song of all time. By Led Zeppelin. Your dad is probably pretty glad you’re aren’t into them at this age.

2. Then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars. It’s from the opening lyrics of “Aquarius”, from the musical “Hair”.

3. No. The question is based upon the lyrics of “Free Bird”, by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is the greatest rock song of all time. Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong.

OK then. Moving on to some new questions:

1. Who wrote “Romeo and Juliet”?

2. What does the acronym TANSTAAFL mean?

3. Which American President said “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”

Kurt Cobain was lead singer of Nirvana. Their most famous hit was “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Here are some more and we’re really not trying to stump you.

1. Who is the only U.S. President to resign from office?

2. Which two Presidents were impeached while in office?

3. There were four sets of relatives who were presidents of the U.S. Who were they, and how were they related?

Child of the 90s checking in here, shaking my puny baby fist at all you old geezers asking about 60s-70s pop culture. Nobody’s cared about Happy Days for decades, ya farts!

Anyway I’m in the kitchen so I’ll ask kitchen-related questions.

1. What are prunes (besides tart and delicious)?
2. What are the five tastes?
3. What is the distinctive herb in spaghetti sauce?
4. What is the difference between an herb and a spice?
5. Name as many natural sweeteners as you can. I can think of four basic categories that are widely used in the kitchen, but if you want to list off varieties in a category you can go right ahead.

1. Not quite the answer I was looking for, but basically correct! What I had in mind was this: hydrogen was formed shortly after the Big Bang, but carbon and oxygen were formed from exploding stars. My fault for an ambiguous question.

2. Andromeda. Most people don’t know it, but [it’s bigger in the night sky than the moon](http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130801.html)! It’s a lot dimmer, though, so it’s hard to see.

3. You have the basic idea. Their gravity is so strong that not even light can escape.

(Hey, you should know it and I want to get edumacated too)

Re. Hydrogen, 1 is both its atomic number (that is, the amount of electrons and protons it has when uncharged) and the mass of its most common isotope. The atomic number is what’s used to order elements in the table. Isotopes are atoms of the same element (that is, of the same atomic number) which have different mass due to having different amounts of neutrons.

I agree - stop asking a 15 year old about 60s stuff!
Don’t ask stuff like ‘What does U.N.C.L.E stand for?’

In the 60s there was a TV series called Man from UNCLE, which stood for United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.

Instead ask stuff you don’t know:
