I just saw a commercial which mentioned an “unexpected surprise,” as if there were any other kind. On TV they are always touting “free” gifts, and telling us that their unique product is one of a kind. Don’t you just hate that? What other repetitious redundancies can you think of? ---

The electronic debit card readers at my gas station and grocery store both say “Please enter your PIN number”. You would think that all of the time and money that went into developing those things, someone would have noticed. ---

Not redundant per se, but certainly superfluous, is the claim that “We’ll beat anyone’s price, or it’s free.” I find it highly unlikely that they would go for the latter option, so it’s really equivalent to merely saying, “We’ll beat anyone’s price.” ---

There’s an ad running on the radio here about a car dealer’s end-of-model-year sale. Apparently, it’s the “last and final” sale of the season. I also recall being irritated about another ad for something that was “easy and simple” to use. ---

Well, see the problem is the alternative is to say “Please enter your PI Number” and then you’d have people entering 3.1415926535897932384626433832795 all the time … 🆒 ---

I myself will take a brief moment to repeat again that it’s a true fact that empty space is compeletely filled with exactly the same freezing cold subatomic particles that each and every knoweldgable expert and fellow colleague, in a consensus of opinion combined together from past experience, has made crystal clear is absolutely necessary. ---

What I hate are those commercials that say “no other razor gives you a closer shave than XXXXX” and “no other detergent makes your laundry cleaner than YYYYY”. I want to scream “no other razor _than what_???”. ---
