Unless it happened on a Friday night and you would get stuck with a million surfers in Barstow and have to paddle the rest of the way.

My bet is on a simple flu that will wipe out half of the population in a few weeks and slowly kill off most of those remaining a few months later. The only people to survive will be too stupid to figure out how to change oil in a car, let alone figure out how to keep electricity and water utilities working.

Statistically the asteroid strike is due round about now.  
Otherwise on a comparitively localised basis here in the U.K. if the Gulf Stream packed up we’d be living in Arctic conditions.
