Do any Doors fans here know where the cover of their second album, _Strange Days_, was shot? I used to know this, but I’ve forgotten now. I seem to remember that it was somewhere in New York City, but I’m not sure. One reason I’d like to know is for the possibility of seeing the site when I visit NYC next Spring. and another reason I’d like to know is I think it’s one of the coolest album covers ever. ---

It was shot in a private alley (and historical district) near my old apartment. Called **Sniffen Court** , it’s at 150 East 36th Street in midtown Manhattan. Cool, thanks for the links! Since it’s private, can it be seen through a gate, or is it possible that whoever’s in charge, like a building superintendent, might be kind enough to let me in? ---

I’ve looked in a few times - about all you can see is what’s in that first cite I linked. I don’t know of any super - there is a call box on the gate, but I have no idea if it works or not. It might just ring each individual building. Those aren’t huge buildings so there might be no super, just a buzzer per building. ---

I should probably also mention (since you’re a _Doors_ fan) that around the corner from my office is an Henry Diltz’s art gallery. Diltz did alot of musician photography, including the **Morrison Hotel** cover. He’s got the front window painted _exactly_ like the hotel window. [Link](http://www.henrysgallery.com/sohogallery.html)
