Regarding the Great Pay-To-Post Conversion: I just want to say a great big **THANK YOU** to the many, many Dopers who offered to either act as an intermediary for me (since I didn’t want to use my credit card and I don’t have Pay Pal) and the many others who offered to just pay outright for me. Since the news first came out, and I posted that I wanted to know if we could snail-mail in money orders, I received many offers of help. Not a day went by that I didn’t get _at least_ three or four offers from Dopers, offering to just go ahead and pay in full for me, with no expectation of reimbursement, or offering to pay for me, and telling me to send them a check or money order “whenever I got around to it.” I’m just amazed at the generosity of people who, technically, don’t even know me. **You guys rock.** I’m not naming all the names, because you all know who you are, but suffice it to to say **fruitbat** is my very favoritest Doper of all. 🙂 I owe you several beers. Good ones, too; nothing cheap or “lite.” ---

There are a lot of dopers whose posts I have come to enjoy. There are a lot of dopers who I consider to be my friends. There are a few dopers who I would do anything I could to help out. One doper I never thanked is **gobear**. So where ever you are out there, Thanks **gobear**. ---

This isn’t exactly real recent or anything, but I wanted to thank my Secret Santa again, **Aries28** for the super cool gifts and **gobear** for his sweet Christmas card. Those two things made my unbelievably bleak holidays a LOT better. Because of these folks (and lots others to numerous to name specifically), I’m glad to be here and can’t wait to participate in things like that again. Like, when is there a Dallas Dope or something?? I just gotta go! ---

Being in a foreign country with no credit card I knew I was going to miss the “cheap seat” dead line because I’m not going home for several weeks. I posted that I was wondering if I would lose my user name. (I wouldn’t). I got an E-mail from a very nice person saying she would be happy to front me the 5 bucks till I got back to the States. Wow. I was thrilled to bits! I don’t care one wit about how this place used to be, or is now. This has been one of my only links to American culture, conversation, learning And just a general anchor chain to the country I love. For a total stranger to come along and help me preserve it with out so much as a one missed day of full member ship was very heartening to me. Great thread, **BiblioCat**. I love being in a room (thread) full of warm fuzzies and all. If I were to thank all those on here who I owe a debt to, it would really set back the hamsters. I guess that is why I love being here, and had to rush to subscribe as soon as I could. I gotta ask now, **EddyTeddyFreddy** , how did you come up with that name? Is it the names of your horses or cats, or what? Oh, wait… _scratches head_ didn’t I see a post in a thread somewhere not long ago about… hmm… I think it was one of your cats named… one of those? Kinda confusing, your username; but then apparently mine was as well way back when. What? ME? A gay guy? What are you smoking? I’m female, love purple, love teddy bears, and have been known to purr on occasion (never mind _what_ occasions;) ). Hence the username. Ah! The pictures have finally loaded into the public page at Webshots. First off – another shot of [me with my two boys](http://community.webshots.com/photo/735286/128041607qXSSvk). That’s Bennie on the left, my almost 14-year-old Thoroughbred, and on the right, Nicky the Magnificent Pickle, my Quarter Horse who will be 22 years old on April 3rd. I’ve owned (or been owned by) Bennie for about a year, and Nick – my first horse! – for over a dozen years. You can clearly see the cyst on my throat that I mention in my “How to Acquire Eight Cats” thread. And while I’m in the Doper Appreciation Thread: I’d like to thank… so many Dopers that I can’t begin to name them all. In the ten months I’ve been a member, I’ve had so much fun, been moved to tears and laughter, been astounded, educated, enraged, flattered, flamed, amused, entertained, enlightened… how can one roll up into one sentence, no matter how horrendously run-on, all the joys of the Straight Dope and its incredible membership? Thanks to you all! Especially the special ones (I hope you know who you are)!
