We didn’t have much money when I was growing up, and I certainly wasn’t spoiled. There were only a few occasions each year when we were given special stuff, so there was always great anticipation. If that had been taken away from me I would have been devastated. And I’ll join the chorus in saying that anyone who does this to their kids is a dick. I won’t be watching the videos - I think they would upset me too much. God I hate pranks. ---

The parents were jerks and the kids were brats. I didn’t see anything funny about this “joke,” and parents shouldn’t be letting kids eat all that candy anyway. Even as a pre-schooler, my daughter would have found the idea of grown adults gorging on her Halloween candy hilarious, so this might actually have been funny if I did it to her, since she would have been the one laughing. ---

I watched a few minutes. The kids shown were around 5. They’ll cry if someone does that, and no, that doesn’t make them spoiled, it makes them normal five-year-olds. I don’t intentionally do stuff like that to my kids, but the ones who did it aren’t evil. Kids cry enough that a one-time prank isn’t going to cause them tens of thousands in therapy decades later, especially if the parent gives the candy back. Sure, if the parent is routinely doing this, then that’s a different issue. ---

The kids are crying because it feels like the person they trust most betrayed them, and they’re confused. Most of them don’t seem spoiled, though some overreact. ---

I love Kimmel – it’s one of three or four TV shows I consistently watch – but a lot of their practical joke skits (like this one, which I saw when it aired), just overflow with douchebaggery. To put the bull’s eye on kids takes it to a whole 'nother level. But I get that it’s an attempt at entertainment and about hitting a certain demo. But the parents who take part in these are complete fuckers. ---
