Doper Women: A poll about your purse

[QUOTE=Mama Zappa]
I only have one purse going at a time. Right now it’s a tan canvas Aigner bag which is OK but hard to fit all the crap I routinely carry (wallet, cell phone, PDA, and zippered cosmetic bag with my daily medications) but it works, just. The strap is long enough that I can stick it on my shoulder and tuck the bag under the arm. Last one before this was a cheap fabric one bought at Kohl’s. Cute (it looked like a pair of pants, including the belt) but did not hold up.

I have a black leather very classy Aigner purse that I’ve had for years and I still like. Too small to hold a book though, so I only pull it out when I need to have a black purse - and since its a rare occation that I purse switch at all, I don’t take it out much.

(They had some of those at TJ Maxx too the other day).

Mine’s a hand-me-down from my mom. It’s black with a couple of pins on it and it’s big enough for me to stuff a paperback book or two in there when I need to.

Aren’t he KVZ bags fun? I have a wine colored patent one that my daughter bought me that never fails to elicit OOOOOHHHHH!!!s.

I’m afraid to actually count, but I’m guessing I have somewhere between 20 and 25 bags of varying sizes, colors, and price points. In addition to the everyday black monster I posted upthread, I have this bag in camel, which I love and carry often. I went on a Maxx NY kick for a while and got this and this , along with a lovely black satchel with a silver buckle for when I wanted something smaller and sleeker than my everyday bag, and a lavender shopper with a Pucci-esqe lining, neither of which I can find pictures of at the moment. Those would probably be what I carry most often, and then I have a bunch that fall into the “perfect with that one outfit” category.

Uh oh. Y’all have awakened the sleeping bag lust!

I carry this vera bradley number. The boyfriend has no right to complain, its easy to find and he bought it for me!

Its the perfect size for me; I can fit in all the essentials, plus my Asus eee and a handful of pens and pencils when necessary.

large hobo/tote bag from Target. I was going to get it in practical black, but my husband convinced me to get it in the obnoxious light gold metallic. I dig it. It’s a little deep, though. Holds a lot.

Oh hey, here it is.

I long ago learned a way not to buy (or have) too many bags: only buy Coach. 15 years later I have Coach in several colors and sizes. I even have a belt. But I only buy at the outlet stores, and never the ugly fabric ones that say coachcoachcoach all over them. I have a tiny little black one for going out, a huge red shopping-bag, and several regular ones in between.

I can’t remember who said they damaged their Coach bag, but Coach will fix them for free, you just have to pay for the shipping to their plant.

I have also seen Coach bags at TJMaxx, there was one in Atlanta that was a regular dumping ground. But never had one that I needed …

I’ve now changed the purse rules a bit, it either has to be Coach or it has to be less than $15. Last summer I got a lime green purse for $14.99 at Target and was complimented on it constantly.

Recently I got a dark brown one for $10. That one should be Coach, because I will always need that color, but having no money at the moment, Coach is out of the question. Unless it shows up at Goodwill. Where I recently purchased a pair of Coach sandals and Cole Hahn heels, for very little money. But that’s another topic.

Hmmm…I can’t find it in the listings now, but it’s a lavender number with dark purple paw prints from the Animal Rescue Site’s store (http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com), styled much like the classic Kate Spade “Sam” bag.
