I feel so alone…
Surely I can’t be the only woman under the age of 50 who has never dyed her hair. Not because there is anything remarkable about my natural color. It’s always been a generic medium blonde, moving into a sort-of blah mousey brown as I get older, and doomed to gradually turn blah mousey gray in time. I’ve just never been moved to start the never-ending colorization process. Guess I’ll just continue to grow old gracelessly.

So, why haven’t you dyed yours?

And yes, naughty children, I am speaking of the hair on one’s head.

I’ve never dyed (or permed) my hair.

I have red hair. How could chemicals in a bottle improve upon that?

I had to drive a young lady to Safeway at 11:00 PM to buy some particular color 'cause she didn’t have enough at home. Does that count? She had a towel wrapped around her head and wouldn’t get out of the car.
Come to think of it, she said she would kill me if I ev

As a guy, I find natural hair incredibly more attractive on women than dyed hair. So many women dye their hair and it’s quite nice to see someone whose hair color doesn’t come in a box. I am often more attracted to a “less attractive” woman with natural hair than to a “more attractive” woman who has dyed hers. I especially dislike it when women won’t admit that they dye their hair (especially if they do a bad job). My roommate and I have mentioned we would love to press a button that immediately changes everyone’s hair to their natural color. Hair dying is just one more way people in our society disguise who they really are.

If you read this and your hair is dyed, think about giving your natural color a chance. An easy way to do so is to find dye that closely matches your roots and do it all at once.

I’ve never dyed my hair because it looks fantastic already. It’s a great colour and is all shiny n’ stuff. Long, too.

I haven’t dyed my hair yet (I don’t know if I count though, I’m rather young). I wanted to dye it blonde, but I have not because I realised it would look really bad with my skin colouring. And after hearing whatmove, maybe my dark brown hair isn’t that bad after all…

I’ve never colored my hair because I love it just the way it is. I’ve even had hairstylists call all the other stylists in the shop over just to look at my hair. I attribute its body and shine to the fact that I’ve never used any products on it other than shampoo and conditioner. FTR, it’s very dark brown with red highlights, medium length, and wavy.

I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do when the gray starts taking over. I hate the idea of putting chemical products in my hair, but if I really don’t like the way it looks, I might give in and color it.

Mostly I have never died my hair for three reasons:

1. I am already perfectly happy with my hair color, and I don’t think that any other color would look any good on me.

2. Who wants to get into the dying and re-dying cycle. Seems like a lot more trouble then it is worth.

3. I can’t imagine that chemically altering the color of your hair is good for it. Based on the amount of special hair products being sold out there for people with “dyed or damaged hair” I would geuss that this is a sound hypothesis.

~~I’ve never colored my hair because everyone tells me that
the color looks great… The most I’ve done is to highlight it…

I used to have my hair a lot longer than it is now, I cut it
because I got tired of messing with it… No more pigtails
for me!

I’ve never died my hair. It’s kind of a boring color, I guess, but I would never take that drastic a step. It would just be out of character.

-raises hand-

Why?

1. My family and boyfriend don’t think pink is my color. -rolls eyes- For that matter, they don’t like bright blue, neon yellow, white, purple or green either. Sheesh.

2. It’s brown, it’s shiny. That’s pretty much ok with me.

3. That requires maintenance. And no, we don’t have super-high maintenance here. Nope, not in SFTWorld. S’not allowed.

4. It makes your hair fall out. And if not that, then all gross and stuff. I know people who at age 16 already look like their hair won’t make it to age 30.

</div>

Nope. It’s naturally dark-brown-almost-black with red highlights, and if I wanted a change I’d pretty much have to bleach it first to get any new color to show up and I don’t want to do that.

Besides, the color’s very pretty on its own - if I could change anything about my hair I’d make it straighter and less thick and prone to frizz, but that’s another story.

I’ve always wanted to dye my hair, but my mom won’t let me. My hair is medium brown and boring as hell…I want dark, chocolate brown (and not just because it would look awesome with a new lipstick I bought ;)). I probably won’t ever dye my hair, though, because I don’t want the chemicals to ruin my curls.

Me. Natural strawberry blonde. My husband would kill me, but I’ve always kind of wanted to do it, just to see what would happen.

Oh, wait, I did dye it purple in high school. That doesn’t really count, though, does it?

I’ve never dyed my hair all over (natural redhead) but I have done a stripe in forest green (disturbingly christmas-y effect, yuk) and on a different occaison bleached a stripe blonde such that it was visible when my hair was up in a ponytail. Ah, those heady days of youth.

I have never died my hair. I have dark brown hair. I found my first grey hair at age 18 but they have only become noticable in the last couple of years. I still don’t find clumps of them. I won’t dye my hair. I like it natural and I think that dark roots look freakish. I also like how not dying it tends to disturb the women in my office.

I’m 36 and have been thinking about breaking open my free box of L’Oreal Open color (mahogany) to redden my brown hair. But my mild henna shampoo has already given me some red tint, and I like the comments I get on my natural widow’s peak…so the box remains closed for the time being.
Maybe next year…?

Never 🙂

My SO thinks it’d be swell if I put a white streak in my dark brown (I call it “sun-dried dog doodoo”) hair, because once I wore one for Hallowe’en. (Fake hair strip thingy.) It looked great with goth clothing but rather dumb with the business-casual I wear to work. He says it’ll make me “more me” … but I say that there’s nothing as “me” as my own genetic code. _shrugs_

I fear it, actually. I’m afraid I’ll mess it up and fry my hair, or it’ll all fall out, or something equally disastrous. (I never claimed to be rational.) Not to mention, of all the possible colours in the world, “sun-dried dog doodoo” might not be the best, but I think it’s probably the best on _me_, what with the pale skin and all. _nods_ Darker would just make me look too gothy (which looks silly with business-casual, as previously mentioned) and if I went lighter I’d be bordering monochromatic.

I’ll take -more- of my hair though! It’s really long but thin, I hate that ☹ **king of spain** , if you want, I’ll take some of your hair-burden offa ya! 😉

Oh, me too. My brother (also a redhead) wants to dye his silver. I think he’s nuts though, how could that possibly look better? He _is_ 18, so I guess that explains the odd desire…
