DoperBabes: Who's never colored their hair?

I’ve never dyed my hair.

It simply looked like it was more trouble than it was worth, and I think I’m already color-coordinated. I have deep brown eyes, slightly olive-tinted skin, and curly brown hair with red highlights.

For a short time, I thought it might be neat to go blonde, but I know that it would look odd with my skin and eye color. (Not to mention that I have thick, dark brown eyebrows–no, not a Neanderthal unibrow; think Brooke Sheilds, unplucked. It would look strange to have blonde hair and my eyebrows.)

Hey fireunderpantsboobs-
Although I wonder why people dye/screw up their hair, going
a darker color would actually be good for your hair.
Darker coats it, instead of stripping it, and would make it
thicker and shinier. Of course, then you have the slightly lighter roots to deal with. Maybe try a washout rinse? Just make sure not to get dark brown though. It will be black!

Dark roots are just icky. Yuck. I always wonder why women would rather have that masculine, aging black eyebrows and roots with blond frizzed out hair combo rather than a natural dark blond, brown, whatever.

I’m with PepperlandGirl. I’ve lost track of my original color, although I think I have pictures…I change colors at least once a month. My dream is to be able to do it pink again without having my job threatened…damn management positions.

I’ve never dyed my hair, because it’s wavy/curly and there for has a tendency to be dry.

however, I’m starting to get that early gray that runs in the family (I’m 36) and having dark hair just makes it stand out more. so, I’m trying to decide what to do.

I’ve never dyed my hair. I think I like my natural colour just fine, and it suits me. Also, I don’t think my mother would approve, and I have to live in the same house as her. She wouldn’t stop me, but I am a bit nervous of what she would say ^_^’

I did have this ambition to dye my hair once, just out of curiosity as to what it would look like, but I was too nervous of what my mum would say so I never did it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Once I tried to put red highlights in my hair. I couldn’t do it. (that hairdying thing is so complicated! ) All that I suceeded in doing was spilling a lot of red dye all over the bathroom and convincing my mother that a murder had taken place in there or something

Then I ordered some purple dye on the internet and I tried to dye my hair purple. It didn’t work. It didn’t show up at all! Then I found out that hair dye doesn’t show up on dark hair-you have to bleach it platinum blonde first. Doh! Why didn’t they tell me that before I spent money on the dye? Why didn’t the stupid dye people say so!?!!

Anyway dying it blonde is more trouble than it is worth, and besides bleaching it and then putting dye on top? Yuk, that can’t be good for it-oh well I will just have to wait until I go grey! (which I am, ever so slowly) Then I can have purple hair! oh I will probably not be bothered anyway! Like I say, too much bother

I did some color once that would wash out. It lasted a couple weeks.

Other than that, I’ve never dyed my hair–I love the color and waviness, and I’m scared it would never come back. Also, it’s too much work. I’m not into maintenance. If I get gray, I get gray.

My mom has never dyed her hair, and I think she’s the only middle-aged woman I know who doesn’t bother to hide her gray. She looks fine. I’m proud to have a natural hippie mamma!
