It was ALASKA. It’s just that I thought of it so late that I didn’t really have time to dispel all doubt from my mind.

Yes. As I said, my thought process wasn’t terribly orderly. But honestly, does anyone carry around in their head a list of U.S. state names from shortest to longest?

What was the clue? (obviously something to do with state names)

This is the only state name that can be typed from one row of letters on a standard keyboard. (or words to that effect).

Well I did know the trivia that Iowa and Ohio are the “shortest” states.

I do think that was a terrible Final Jeopardy question.

Ahem. Utah. First short state I thought of. Followed by Iowa. Then Alaska at the last possible nanosecond.
At the time I also thought it was a terrible FJ clue, but still can’t figure what made me feel that way.

Nuveena, you played a great game. Hold your head high.
Question: During the Meet & Greet, the guy to your right said something to Alex that apparently was edited out (for time if not content); it got a laugh from the audience (which we _did_ hear). I know this happened months ago, but do you by chance remember what was said?

Well, that didn’t take long…

Nuveena … 2015, 0 wins, 2nd place, $14,400

I actually do know the states in alphabetical order but I skipped right past it.

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas - It’s Arkansas! No, if it was Arkansas, it would be Kansas. It’s Kansas! (Writes K) No, the n’s wrong. California, Colorado, Connecticut. Crap, I’m out of time. (Writes CONN)

Remember, this is _Jeopardy!_ we’re discussing.

_[del]Art Fleming[/del] Alex Trebek gave the answers,
but I couldn’t get the questions right._

“What is [contents of your spoiler tag]?” is the _question_. What’s the _answer_?

I don’t think it was edited out. Alex asked the name of his elaborate cat tree and he answered the Kitidel.

Thanks, **Honey**.

The only way I’d have a prayer on that one in Final Jeopardy! is if I got lucky and immediately thought, “which vowels are on which row?” That would at least give me a way of narrowing things down (states with no ‘A’ v. states with no vowels besides ‘A’), along with going with short names first. But even then, it’s unlikely I’d get it.

Thanks for replying, but my question was garbled. As usual.
It was during Double Jeopardy, the clue was
\*“Peter the Great’s 51st birthday party included mandatory drinking of this from a barrel; Peter died at 52”
\*
Alvin correctly said _“Vodka”_ and possibly another word, which was instantly followed by an abrupt cut to audience-already-laughing. I’m wondering if we missed anything good.

Again, thanks for responding, and congrats on a very well played game. We liked your style.

Maybe Labdad and Nuveen and I can commiserate- we all did well, and STILL lost.

I’m not sure which feels worse- to get blown out or to play your best and still come up short. Getting blown out is humiliating, but when you’re CLOSE, you drive yourself nuts second guessing the way you played. In the weeks after my appearance, I was constantly thinking, " DAMN, I should have bet more on the Daily Double… and why did I take that one dumb guess… and was I always a micro-second too fast ringing in or a micro-second too slow (I’m still not sure)?"

I was on fire for the first round, and then got blown out in Double Jeopardy. So I’ve done a lot of second-guessing: why didn’t I keep my foot on the gas? But the DJ categories were not as much to my liking, and my opponents woke up. And I didn’t know the FJ question, so it’s pretty much moot. (I think I’d feel more positive about the whole thing if I had known the answer to FJ.)

The guy who beat me (who was an arrogant asshole, the only person in the entire group of people in the green room whom I didn’t like) ran the category on “German Composers”. Classical music is one of my biggest downfalls. That killed me.
