I still occasionally climb trees. With the exception of one of those pines where the branches are practically like a ladder, I haven’t climbed very high. But high enough to show the Firebug, now 11 years old, that I can still climb anywhere he can, as long as the branches are sturdy enough to hold my weight.
I’m 78; can’t do it. Vertigo, bad knees, one bad hip. Last tree I climbed I was in my 50s showing off for a kid.
As a child I all but lived in a couple of big sycamore trees. Also as a kid I was willing to climb any and all persimmon trees I could locate but only after the first winter frost.
