Seems dopers come and go all the time.
Which dopers that you noticed have stopped posting to the SDMB? I`m especially interested in those that may have been prominent here at one time or had a high post count, not always one in the same.
If you know why they stopped posting feel free to add that too.

actually, i’m glad you brought this up. i used to see **LifeOnWry** around pretty often when i strolled back onto the scene. we even had a small private email correspondence when we were doing our little “surplus exchange”. last note i had, she mentioned being ill with the flu. i haven’t heard anything since then, but _more_ worrisome, i don’t think i’ve seen her posting since that timeframe, either.
'course, i’m fairly limited in which fora i browse regularly. anybody else heard from her in the last month or so?

A search for her came up with nothing(LifeOnWry). What`s up?
Makes you wonder… How would the rest of us know if a poster died? Unless they were connected to other posters via other means.
Wasn`t there a **Scotth** also that sort of disapeared?

unfortunately, i’ve been in two other communities that have had to deal with this. just recently we lost a member of a mail-list community to cancer. he had friends and was active in other mail communities too, and someone supplied the story when our list saw the formal request to withdraw his membership from our group and queried if this was some sort of joke.
in the second instance, our role-playing community members did lots of AIM-type communicating with each other. our group was so important to one of our members, his dad actually posted to the forums to let us know that he had died from complications after surgery. (he’d been in a coma earlier in the year after having been shot. his dad credited his initial recovery to being read all the get-well wishes that were posted on the boards, plus hearing that he’d been awarded an “avatar” card.)
in that group, we have a forum set up specifically for people to announce when they’re on hiatus, back from vacation, or thinking of leaving the boards altogether. but still sometimes people (or usernames) just vanish without explanation. of course, since multiple identities is practically the norm over there, the absence of a single name may or may not be cause for concern or alarm – unlike our “one name per user” policy here.

He’s over on LiveJournal, like a number of other seldom-seens who were formerly regulars, like **Demo** (who is democritus on LJ).
**pldennison** and **Peta Tzunami** have long since dropped off the boards, but still seem to be around Northern Virginia somewhere. Anyone heard from them lately?

I guess it’s too hard to post everywhere, right?
