I just read G. Nome’s OP a few times, and realized something. It’s actually…well, comprehensible. This is the first time I can recall in my history that something G. Nome has said has even come close to making sense. I’m scared. ---

Actually, it makes no sense at all. Why would somebody hang out in GD because they’re afraid to have discussions in places like MPSIMS and IMHO? If anything, it would be the other way around. (Not that I’m saying it is – just trying to inject some logic here.) ---

I talk in the places where it doesn’t require high intelligence to be there (eg, the Pit, MPSIMS) and I lurk where it does require high intelligence (GD, GQ). Not to say you posters here aren’t smart! You all are! I’M just not, and I can get by with that in the Pit and in MPSIMS =\> ---

Whoa, whoa, don’t get me wrong, I didn’t say that the OP was logical. All I meant was that the sentences were, for the most part, in possesion of regular numbers of verbs, nouns, and adjectives, and our friend actually managed to stay on the same completely inane and pointless thought throughout. I’m as stumped as everybody else as to the meaning, but Coldfire just made me reaffirm my decision to make him my hero. ---

I like all the forums. I don’t post as much in the GDs formum as I used to (I miss Libertarian), but they all offer something. And MPSIMS is a pretty good place to get to know people. And at the risk of being flamed by those who are on the “what are you talking about, G. Nome” bandwagon, I had no trouble understanding the OP and thought that part of it was probably tongue in cheek (the afraid of getting mugged part; when I was a kid you lived on the right or wrong side of the tracks). Cute analogy. ---

G.Nome’s tongue is usually in the wrong cheek, but she’s starting to grow on me. I got the OP too, and I’m also in agreement with her thread on nursing homes. What does that make me? In answer to the OP, yeah, G.Nome, I think there are some people who get a superiority complex from being exclusively GQ, GD, the Pit, all the “Comments on…” columns and looking down on MPSIMS _:cough: Alphagene_ And there are strictly MPSIMS posters who never met a post party or a virtual wedding they didn’t like. There are posters here who don’t even know who Cecil Adams is _:cough: Anniz_, and everyone in between. Remember, like Eleanor Roosevelt said: No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. ---

O.K. When did you last see that guy that sells cheap furniture to Indians in the BBQ pit, for instance? He’s here now, ranting about his mother losing the election, but it must be the first time ever. A whole lot of people, verifiably, no doubt, never go anywhere but the “High IQ areas”. They probably don’t admit to watching the Young and the Restless either. ---

G.Nome, the whole point is that anyone can go (or not go) anywhere they wish. I **agree** with you that there are some people who avoid the Pit, MPSIMS, etc. - some people make a real point of it, some people don’t. I don’t think I’ve ever made a post in “Comments on Mailbag Answers”, for instance, even though I think it’s a fine forum. Believe it or not, I got your “Sofa King” reference, and found it almost funny. So now I ask the question that’s really not on anyone’s mind: G.NOME, WHAT EXACTLY IS YOUR POINT? What’s the problem? ---

Homer: Yes, that’s right. Just as there are inquiries into who owns stuffed animals or creative things you can do with brassieres this is a casual inquiry into why names so familiar to some forums are completely absent from others. However, until Lunasea started one of two or three anti-me threads, I had never been in the BBQ pit either. Maybe I’m just embittered. I have to admit, though, I thought there was a moderator called David B. Gaudere (B for Basil or something) until recently. So I’m definitely no intellectual. In the tradition of call them and [see if] they will come and weird naked indians and so on: I’ve noticed Lance Turbo is a name never seen outside of General Questions where, admittedly, he displays a useful understanding of modern science. But the thing a lot of people may well want to ask him is: What’s with the primitive website? It seems to have as few HTML-tags as possible. ---
