# Dopers with enlarged prostates, have you done anything about it and how'd it go?

Early '40s with very low PSA but I went on Flomax after bladder was not emptying and I was going 20-30 times per night at work.

I’ve noticed bad gas and constipation which seems (but may not be) related, as well as some light-headedness. As far as function goes, sometimes the ejaculate is reduced as expected, but the other functioning is better. In fact, before I got on flomax one of the side effects of my full bladder and prostate interference was very strange partial erections and urine-like ejaculate (sorry if TMI, but that seems to be expected for this topic). I don’t really use it for that purpose right now, and not expecting to anytime soon if ever again. So it’s whatever, I guess. As far as urinating, I definitely empty a lot better and don’t have the urges with dripping and then needing to go again right away over and over.

From comments here, I’m wondering how caffeine affects it. I have tried to cut back a lot but don’t think I could function without some.
