They not only taste like hamburger–to me, they specifically taste like a McDonald’s hamburger, and even more specifically, the Big Mac. The beefiness is the same odd beefiness that McDonald’s hamburgers have (and I happen to love for some reason I haven’t been able to explain) and that relishy-mustardness tastes like the Special Sauce to me. Overall, not a bad effort, although I’m not sure I could eat these in quantity. I am, however, shocked to see how close a chip can taste to a fast food burger. It’s really quite the miracle of science. ---

Having finally just tried them, I vote for “Hot Dog”. Oh, and chili lime fritos and gatorade are one of the best hangover cures out there. ---

I have read speculation on a snack enthusiast website (ahem) that the name “X-13D” (not “X D-13”) is a reference to McDonald’s. This theory is based on the fact that M is the thirteenth letter of the alphabet. Haven’t seen it or tried it myself. ---

I went out a bought a bag of the X-13D after reading about them in this thread. They are definitely _supposed_ to taste like a burger. I thought they were terrible and threw away the bag after eating 2 chips. ---

I just had a couple and I loved them. McDonald’s cheeseburger flavor. I had seen the title of this thread but had to search it out after having them. I like them, so they will go away rather quickly. I have that effect on brands. Apparently, this will make most of you very happy. 😃 ---

I definitely got the pickle, but I thought that the meat flavor was closer to vienna sausages. ---

Haven’t tried the new ones, but where I grew up (Iowa in the 60’s), plain toasted corn was first, taco was second (they tried to resurrect this recently with “Taco Bell” flavor, which I thought was wretched), and nacho cheese was third. I can’t believe that no-one remembers the sesame ones. Those were awesome. Avery Schreiber was their spokesperson: “Open Sesame!” ---

Holy flurking schnitt! The Doritos site that **Quixotic** is linking to is lying their asses off! (I should state that I don’t have the patience to try to load it on dialup; I’m going from **Q** ’s post.) They’ve completely left out the Sesame flavor, and (if **Q** ’s post is accurate), they’re stating that Taco flavor came out in 1985, which is a complete croque of schytte. When I was in elementary school (1969-1975), there were two foods that my mother forbade me to eat because they gave me bad breath: Slim Jims, and Taco flavored Doritos. As luck would have it, they were two of my favorite foods, but you know how it is to argue with your mother when you’re 10 years old… In short, Taco came out _at least_ ten years (probably more like 12-13) before they are saying. I suspect foul play. ---
