Once, I sat here with the windows open from 9-11, then went to lunch with a friend. The first thing she said when she walked up to me was, “Jeeeesus, why do you smell like you’ve been smoking up? Didn’t you just come from work?” An annoyance, but now I can’t sit with the window open if I’m going to meet with a client at any point during that day. A personal problem, no doubt, but why can’t this dude smoke his chimney of weed in the privacy of his own stinky ass house, dangit? ---

As such, they weren’t just passing through, but ended up spending a disproportionate amount of time in the general vacinity of my house. Is it too much to ask to be discreet about your substance abuse? ---

They presumably smoked in front of their house, carried on smoking as they passed your house, and apparently stopped briefly in front of your neighbour’s house before carrying on to their house. They were smoking in front of somebody else’s house, briefly, while your child couldn’t see them do it, and they couldn’t see your child, and that is indiscreet enough to pit? Personally I’d be more worried about my offspring finding the pit thread and wondering how Daddy knew what the bad plant smelled like. ---

I would think that the kids would have at least been concerned that there could be a cop around. They had no way of knowing that the OP himself was not a cop. I wouldn’t have been offended at all or even made a comment to them. But I would certainly think they were being stupid. And, people: “discreet.” ---
