# Double/Triple hairs from one root?

On several places on my body, i found there’s double hairs that grow from one stem. This hair is unusually thick. I’m curious, is this normal?

Yes, it happens rarely, and it even has a [name](http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-pili-multigemini.htm).

Note that those sometimes lead to ingrown hairs.

Ummm… the language in the link makes it sound like its terrible and needs to be treated… but it’s just really thicker hair.

Most of my hair is like that. I hope it doesn’t mean I have to be castrated or something.

I’ve had something similar on my face, but it happens so rarely, and from never the same spot on my face, and they pull out so easily I’ve just assumed they were ingrown hairs due to shaving.
