I got to see Stanhope on Sunday in DC. He was funnier than fuck. And if you think that clip is offensive, you really should have heard the shit he said about his own mother, who died the weekend before last. And who he loved very much. ---

I love Stanhope since I saw his ‘No Refunds’ special on Showtime. A few of his bit were a bit over the line, but mostly I just laughed my ass off. ---

[underlining mine] If it doesn’t contain humor, what would we be laughing at or otherwise nodding along in recognition with? IMO content can make up for delivery and delivery can make up for content, sure, but I find him lacking in both. I don’t follow politics much at all, but I find Palin annoying…and I still don’t think he’s funny. That said, whatever floats your boat. He strikes me as a wannabe. Following Kimmel and Carolla on “The Man Show,” nah. His “Girls Gone Wild” stuff (I only saw the ad clips…maybe the DVDs are hilarious), nah. The stuff about a mentally-retarded child: if you’re going to go there, you better be goddamn funny or insightful about it. JMO. ---
