Down with "free range parenting"!

It isn’t status quo, and you have yet to make a good case that children are actually being protected.

Honestly, you and furt sound equally nuts. The only difference is you’re being proactively nuts, he is reactively nuts.

Between this thread and your other recent posts, you might want to take a break. Go outside, play with your kids.

How do you actually report a post around here? I have never done it before, but I’m ready. Any moderated board worth its salt rightly prohibits these kinds of posts (not just the “nuts” accusation, but the “you’re spending too much time on the boards” couched as a “friendly suggestion”).

I don’t see a “report” button…

ETA: Ah, wait: it’s the little exclamation point in the triangle. Never really noticed that before. Got it.

SlackerInc., Marley is participating here as a poster, not a moderator, and his opinions on the subject at hand don’t constitute moderator action. Cool it. Also, I assure you we are worth our salt around here and fisha’s ‘advice’ is fairly mild. But, fisha, calling people nuts is escalating things, so keep your comments directed toward a person’s arguments rather than them personally.

furt, do not threaten violence on specific posters. That is out of line so cool it.

I should cool it? Okay, WTF…that is seriously pathetic moderator fail.

Where is the “delete account” button? Sad, after being here since the AOL days…but that just does not fly.

It does not include only children who are passengers in cars.

However, children under the age of 14 only account for 8% of pedestrian deaths, and 21% of bicycling deaths. In total, just over 500 fewer children were killed either of these ways in 2003 than in 1993. Both types of deaths, though decreasing, still account for a higher percentage of deaths than vehicular crashes in which they are the victim 5% of the time.
