Crud. Geez, I’m sorry to hear that, Mr. C. We just went through the re-org thing here. It’s sometimes hard to figure out who got the short shrift - the stayers or the goers. My company doesn’t do business in Colorado so I can’t offer any help, but I’ll be happy to commiserate. ---

Sorry to hear it Mr C - I know the feeling! Those of you in chat may know that I left a long term contracting job to go permanent at a rapidly expanding tech firm (in order to get job security, training, holiday, sick pay - those little things that mean so much…). Last Wednesday (15th), having been there exactly a fortnight, I & about 50 others were called into a room to be told that our projects were canned & unless we could find another job internally by 31st December, we would then be redundant. Oh & a happy new year to you too… This is my first post about it (I was going to start a thread “Eating the doughnuts of death” - we are on a round of internal recruitment fairs & they keep feeding us doughnuts and danishes and muffins - I think they are eithr fattening us for Christmas, or they figure we’ll need the calories when we’re on the streets in the cold and snow in January…), but saw this first. Sorry for the hijack, & may I assure you all that the irony of the case isn’t lost on me…but I still don’t know how to tell my mom! She was so happy when I got this job (“your luck’s finally changed, someone has finally recognised how intelligent you are” etc etc - if I told her I could split an atom by looking at it, I sometimes think that she would believe me) - so I’m hoping it will fix itself before I have to tell her…at least they gave us plenty of warning - some places have laid people off on Xmas eve with no warning - when they have already spent a fortune on kids presents etc. This way at least people can budget. {{Mr.C}} ---

I expect at least one job offer by the end of today! Thank you all for the mojo, and a special thanks to whomever took my hangover for me. I feel as fresh as a daisy. With any luck, I will be gainfully employed again before Thanksgiving. Maybe not AS gainfully employed, but hey, anything’s better than unemployment. 🙂 ---
