I was at Costco yesterday and noticed a big bottle of Dr. Bronners Peppermint soap for $10. I’ve never used their products but the price seemed very good so it jumped into my cart. Smells very nice, but so far I’ve only used it to wash my hands. They say you can wash most anything with the stuff, but I’d like to know if anyone has any experience to share. ---

I take a little bottle when I travel and use it for laundry, body, and dishes. It’s not particularly great at anything, but if you only want to carry one bottle of soap, it’s about as good as you are going to get. ---

cleans everything and it’s a dessert topping (at least claimed could use for brushing your teeth). it is not a spectacular soap but an adequate do lots of cleaning soap. ---

You can also use it to clean shoes, saddlery, any kind of leather. Honestly, it’s not that different from any gylcerin soap, with scent added… aside from the insane religious screed all over it. 😃 Though, I heard the Bronners, jr toned town the ALL-ONE-GOD-FAITH business. True? I have’t bought a bottle lately. ETA: tried brushing with it once… 0/10 would not do again. ---

I’ve read nothing but good things about that soap (on this board) but did you read the screed on the label? I’ve attempted to skim it from time to time (usually when one of these threads comes up). Dr Bronner must have been about 65% bible thumper and 98% nuts. ---

I don’t use it for _everything._ But it’s great for a quick shower when you’re hotter & sweatier than Hell. Which happens a lot on the Gulf Coast… (Not right now. brrrr.) ---

Maybe I’ll give it a try in the shower tomorrow. I did try reading all the stuff on the label, but my eyes kept losing focus. 😕 I did visit their website and using it as a toothpaste was mentioned, along with the “tastes like soap” disclaimer. I guess if it was all you had… I’ll decant some into a smaller bottle with a spout and keep it handy. Thanks for the information. ---

While I don’t buy it for the woo philosophy on the label, Dr B’ s peppermint soap is THE summer shower soap if you live where it’s hot and sticky. But not, as noted, on your undercarriage. ---

Haven’t bought it in years but now I’m going to, again. Agree with the above, especially about not using the peppermint one on your undercarriage. ---

I love the stuff. I’m allergic to a lot of soaps, but not Dr Bronners. I have the lavender, tea tree, and peppermint. Watched the documentary, and he was indeed a loon, but made some good soap! Plus, the company is good to its employees. ---

They now make a citrus version which is pretty perky and mild enough for the aforementioned undercarriage. ---

My parents like to dilute it and use it in hand pump dispensers at sinks. It dries in tips so that they jizz on your shirt when you’re trying to soap your hands. ---

I use it in the shower but not as shampoo – find the tingle rather enjoyable but it makes my hair very dry and frizzy. It’s also good for laundry, particularly merino wool items, because it’s soap, not detergent and doesn’t wash away the natural lanolin in the wool – much cheaper than Nikwax and other tech wash stuff and works just as well. ---

I also bought the peppermint one on sale at Costco (having previously liked the lavender and eucalyptus ones) … my male undercarriage handles it fine but do keep that peppermint one away from your eyes.
