So he’s back in the news again. Headlines state that [senators grilled Dr. Oz](http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/17/health/senate-grills-dr-oz/index.html?hpt=hp_t2) the other day. Hell, let Straight Dope at him, we will show him a proper grilling in the BBQ pit. He got off pretty damn easy if you ask me, and despite what he says, I doubt he really believes his own crap, but of course, to keep making the sell, he has to say he does to satisfy all of his sponsors.

They finally got Keven Trudeau over using language that his weight loss was “simple” and “easy.” Isn’t Dr. OZ making similar claims, with his products promising “miracle weight loss.” “FDX literally flushes fat from your system.” “This little magic bean, as scientists say, they found a magic weight loss for everybody.”

Dr. Oz concedes his products wouldn’t withstand the scrutiny and standards of the FDA, but they don’t have to because they are supplements which don’t need their approval. AFAIK, so were Trudeau’s products.

Sen Claire McCaskill says on-line ads encourages unscrupulous scam artists to use his image and to promote his junk or similar stuff, and Dr. Oz says he can’t control what they do and has went to court to stop them. But what about him? Isn’t he just as unscrupulous, and a scam artist himself?

Dr. Oz says he is starting to second guess each word he is using right now. I haven’t watched his show lately, but continue to hear the outrageous claims he uses during commercials promoting his show, so I kind of doubt that.

> This, a thousand times over. I watched him on Oprah (yeah, I know), and he really did seem like he knew what he was talking about. But then they gave him a show of his own. How many times can you cover a 300-pound woman and her 400-pound husband, putting them before the Truthometer, or whatever the hell it is? How many weight-loss meals can you examine? How many exercises can you demonstrate? Eventually you’re gonna run out of legitimate segments, and there’s no place to go but woo. I love the part where he goes into the audience, and people give him a problem they’re having, and he gives them a 30-second diagnosis and cure. His show should be cancelled for that, if nothing else.

> I’m ashamed to say, I have his diet book. For $28, I learned that I should eat lean protein, fresh fruit and veggies (which I already knew) and get more exercise (which I already know).
>
> One good thing in his favor: He’s been promoting resveratrol. I’ve been taking it for a few years now, and it does seem to have a positive impact on my health issues. My doctor said “It probably won’t kill you.” 😉

You nailed it, just so much you can say about something before you have to get off track so you can keep on talking.
