Dr. Oz promotion of quackery

So he’s back in the news again. Headlines state that senators grilled Dr. Oz the other day. Hell, let Straight Dope at him, we will show him a proper grilling in the BBQ pit. He got off pretty damn easy if you ask me, and despite what he says, I doubt he really believes his own crap, but of course, to keep making the sell, he has to say he does to satisfy all of his sponsors.

They finally got Keven Trudeau over using language that his weight loss was “simple” and “easy.” Isn’t Dr. OZ making similar claims, with his products promising “miracle weight loss.” “FDX literally flushes fat from your system.” “This little magic bean, as scientists say, they found a magic weight loss for everybody.”

Dr. Oz concedes his products wouldn’t withstand the scrutiny and standards of the FDA, but they don’t have to because they are supplements which don’t need their approval. AFAIK, so were Trudeau’s products.

Sen Claire McCaskill says on-line ads encourages unscrupulous scam artists to use his image and to promote his junk or similar stuff, and Dr. Oz says he can’t control what they do and has went to court to stop them. But what about him? Isn’t he just as unscrupulous, and a scam artist himself?

Dr. Oz says he is starting to second guess each word he is using right now. I haven’t watched his show lately, but continue to hear the outrageous claims he uses during commercials promoting his show, so I kind of doubt that.

Can Dr. Oz sink any lower?

You nailed it, just so much you can say about something before you have to get off track so you can keep on talking.

Hey thanks for that, been away, and didn’t see it. I knew Dopers wouldn’t disappoint!

It makes* me *feel nauseous.
