Hell, if anything that ad promotes making healthier lifestyle choices instead of getting caught in the craving/binge cycle. As for Dr. Pepper, I’m underwhelmed by either outrage or amusement. I’ve noticed a lot of ads are starting to satirize gender norms (like the goofy Old Spice ads) and I kinda like it. It’s downright fucking weird they would block women from their Facebook site, though. That does ruffle my feathers a bit, because it seems to be genuinely predicated on the notion that men won’t drink something women like. ---

If they had made the ads over-the-top “macho,” like the Dairy Queen campaign that goes something like “We don’t just make awesome milkshakes; we make bubbles with fluffy kittens in them,” it could have succeeded. Some beefcake lumberjack\* drinking Dr Pepper TEN and beseiged with hot babes who want to steal his diet soda. It could work like the Most Interesting Man in the World or the Old Spice Guy. Instead it’s just insulting. \*He’s OK. ---

This ad is blatantly sexist. It isn’t hidden. There is no subtext. On the facebook page they have a game where you can shoot “girly” things. Sexism isn’t funny or cute to me. It’s a real thing that hurts people. What the fuck, people? ---
