What is particularly egregious is when Congress basically jacks up a bill title and drives a whole new bill under it. Some bill that starts in the House as School Lunch Program for Starving Children in Appalachia gets amended and hacked up so much that it arrives at the Senate with nothing left but paying for a dam on a river in Wyoming – but it still has the same title.

That’s fair enough and it’s a debatable point. I won’t pretend that I can say for sure that the structure they’re written is the best, or good. But I argue that it’s not a matter of “Hollywood using its political capital to crush the common interest.” I think, though, at this point then we’re just arguing about what’s better. It’s no longer an issue of “Congress imposing draconian copyright crackdown provisions.”
