The only reliable fun in talking with them about music is to watch them expose how ignorant they are on the subjects they are most passionate about, and that got old long ago. ETA: And I honestly like Petty as a voice actor more than I liked him as a rocker, but he still knew how to do middle of the road rock well. That’s the stuff he liked to do, and even if it’s not always my taste, I can’t fault him for it if that’s what he wanted to do. Since he went in to debt financing his own records, I don’t know what evidence you’re going to find that he was selling out or doing art that he didn’t like. ---
