I’ve only seen a few oil tanker trucks (tractor-trailers) dragging chains behind them - as a means for grounding the tank to avoid building up a static charge on the truck.

How else is this done? Or, are the chains towards the front of the truck, under the tractor body?

Since there’s another thread on various chains on various vehicles [here](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=93502), I’ll close this one and direct members to the other one.
