Drama? Comedy? Misclassification of movies

Eternal Sunshine is really misclassified, it’s one of the most terrifying movies of all time (on a psychological level), imo. It has some comedy in it, but that’s just good filmmaking – ups to balance the downs. Even the “comedy” is less comedy for comedy’s sake, and more just examples of woeful incompetence by what should be trusted medical professionals… except for the babysitting/kid scene. It’s just about one step away from calling Shutter Island comedy because sometimes crazy people act funny.

One of the cleverest things Roger Ebert ever said was that the trailer is the film the studio wishes had been made.

Back in the '90’s, I used to work at a video retailer called Suncoast. (I think they’re out of business now)

They had **Fargo **placed in the comedy section. One of my co-workers was a film major in college and he would talk at length about the comedy of the movie. I saw a few yuks here and there, but I wouldn’t call it a comedy.

I would call it a comedy, though of course it’s more than a comedy. The humor comes from so many stupid people doing so many stupid things. Interesting that when I see that in real life it’s not funny at all, but on screen, it is.
