Oh- and thread drift. When we came back from Singapore to Perth, because of the above problems, Qantas had taken all the nice new Airbuses off the run to use elsewhere and we had a tired old 767. Ten years ago it would have been a nice plane.
Under the Trivia section for Rain Man (1988), the film that popularized the notion that Qantas has never had a fatal passenger crash, it says:
“Barry Levinson [the director] admitted that Ray’s comment about Qantas being the only aircraft company to never have had a fatal crash was made up, and that he didn’t know if this was true. In reality, Qantas has had eight crashes, all prior to the making of the film, but they were all propeller-driven planes, not jets.”
