Many of you probably remember The Longest Journey, and its extreme time-skip sequel Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Those of you who played them to completion also probably remember that the sequel ended on one hell of a cliffhanger.

Since that game was released, the designer, Ragnar Tørnquist, has been talking about making an episodic sequel called Dreamfall: Chapters. However, Funcom and his team were working on Age of Conan, and then later got delayed further when they were producing The Secret World.

It looks like Ragnar formed a new company called Red Thread Games (in a licensing agreement/funding partnership with Funcom) and Dreamfall Chronicles, after all this time, began pre-production in November!

I hope other adventure game fans get excited by this, The Longest Journey is probably one of the best games of all time. Dreamfall wasn’t as great (the combat…), but I still liked it a lot.

A month or so ago my daughter and I found ourselves on Stark Street in Portland, which led us to wonder if there were an Arcadia Avenue nearby. Yeah, we’ve been waiting.
