Anyone else think they look like cockroaches?

My husband has always said so! And he refuses to eat them because of this. It’s the semi-translucent glossy brownness, I suppose.

The big medjool dates look a lot less like roaches, and they taste wonderful. Due to the mister’s squeamishness, I always get them all.

I preferred the diced dates, no skin. I hate the leatheriness of the skin. I can’t eat them much any more, way too much inherent sugar to interfere with my diabetes =(

I would kill for a date shake right now =(

Heh. Mr. Horseshoe pointed out years ago to my that dried apricots look like ears, and I don’t think I’ve eaten once since then.

I call dried apricots ears, too. Or dead man’s ears.

In “Red Square” Arkady Renko recalls that during the war his father had taken the ears of a German soldier and afterwards kept them in his study hung on the wall, looking like a pair of dried apricots.

A bit. This is why I only eat them wrapped in bacon.

They do, and yes I did. Primates have always eaten insects, but I suspect (having not done the research) this is as close as any of us want to get, what with their shells and all.

John the Baptist ate locusts and honey. I can pretend this is the next best thing.
