So it’s mostly being used for transportation. Cars don’t run on nuclear, except by proxy of electricity. While EVERYONE bemoans environmental disasters associated with extraction of mineral or hydrocarbon resources, there are _always_ risks and always have been. The fact is that TECHNOLOGY has reduced those risks. Significantly. Decry the establishment of the way the USA is set up around the consumption of oil all you want, I’ll agree, its not ideal but it is what it is. Do YOU drive a car? Use heating oil? Natural gas? What risks to you are acceptable for the acquisition of these very necessary resources? ---

So tell me, what was so fucking wrong with not giving huge tax breaks to gas guzzlers, or increasing MPG requirements? ---

Nothing is wrong with penalizing people that drive huge vehicles that get poor MPG via luxury/gas guzzler taxes…where’d you get that out of my posts? And we have been and ARE increasing MPG requirements…what else do you want? Magical flying underpants? FWIW, I drive a very small car that gets about 40mpg…non-hybrid style. ---

All I said was a pretty pedestrian rephrasing of “cutting edge technology”, and really, what else can that mean? If your on the very edge of knowledge, pretty much by definition you are on the edge of ignorance as well, no? Why that set off your rockets, I dunno, but it wasn’t that big a statement, nor does it mean I’m some sort of deranged Luddite who wants us all to live by exchanging nuts, berries, and sea shells!
