"Drill Baby Drill"ers: I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

No.

OK, fair’s fair, you got me that time, for a whole minute, I thought you were serious! Good one!

Did hippies put guns to everyone’s head and make them buy gas guzzling, smog-mobiles?
http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epa/figes1.html

Oil = 1.1% of electrical generation. Nuclear 19%. So it’s mostly being used for transportation.

Cars don’t run on nuclear, except by proxy of electricity. Had you listened to the dirty hippies maybe we’d have more common electric cars, and then maybe, you’d have a point.

Your stupid false equivalence is better suited to something like Yahoo Answers.

Strange isn’t it. The arguments for Gulf drilling are the same for nuclear. The accidents are very rare. (not true but people believe it). It is very safe and well regulated. (You must know better than that.) More than that, the regulators make it more expensive because the drilling is so very safe. We must cut back regulation. It is wasting money. The oil guys have it all figured out. Nothing too worry about. Hell we can trust them to do the right thing. The technology is failsafe. They will do the inspection without nosy government regulators getting in their way.

Damn. One and done. Nice job El_Kabong.

I hereby predict that something at least tangentially related to the health care reform bill will have bad consequences. Man, I can’t wait for my “I told you so” pit thread!!@!@!@!@!ONE

When someone tells you that they are on the cutting edge of technology, that means they are right next to not knowing what the fuck they are doing.

Offshore oil drilling will not result in lower prices. The concept that supply will drop prices is so dated, it is a joke. They do not compete. Prices drop or raise with stock market and commodities trading.

Yes, the accidents are indeed VERY RARE for both. What do you want, a perfect world of free, clean energy, light without heat, Jesus molecules powering cars?

They are rarer for drilling than for transportation. It IS TRUE that these accidents, whether they be acquisition, transportation or storage are RARE.

You’re a fuckwit.

Cite: Oil and gas accidents during the offshore exploration and production

This is patently bullshit, too. You’re better than that. While EVERYONE bemoans environmental disasters associated with extraction of mineral or hydrocarbon resources, there are always risks and always have been. The fact is that TECHNOLOGY has reduced those risks. Significantly.

Decry the establishment of the way the USA is set up around the consumption of oil all you want, I’ll agree, its not ideal but it is what it is.

Do YOU drive a car? Use heating oil? Natural gas? What risks to you are acceptable for the acquisition of these very necessary resources?

True.

False.

Rand, when you saw Yellow Submarine, you rooted for the Blue Meanies, didn’t you? C’mon, you can tell us…

See my fucking cite. Oil = cars, otherwise what the fuck are they doing with all that oil? They’re certainly not generating electricity. That’s for sure.

So tell me, what was so fucking wrong with not giving huge tax breaks to gas guzzlers, or increasing MPG requirements?

Buh? I’ve listened to Yellow Submarine. I didn’t know saw was possible. Are you high, or am I drunk?

It came out the same year as Barbarella, Fonda’s finest role.

Nothing is wrong with penalizing people that drive huge vehicles that get poor MPG via luxury/gas guzzler taxes…where’d you get that out of my posts? And we have been and ARE increasing MPG requirements…what else do you want? Magical flying underpants?

FWIW, I drive a very small car that gets about 40mpg…non-hybrid style.

Yellow Submarine.

Although, given current conditions in the Gulf, it’s probably more of a brownish color.

Oooh, fur. And not the vaginal trimming requirements (or lack thereof) of the day.

I would fuck Hanoi Jane sideways if I had a time machine.

Well, how about REU then? Renewable Energy Unit. For instance, 'Big Mining Simulacrum Corp Announces 5 REUs of new capacity.

Whoa, big horse, steady up, there! All I said was a pretty pedestrian rephrasing of “cutting edge technology”, and really, what else can that mean? If your on the very edge of knowledge, pretty much by definition you are on the edge of ignorance as well, no?

Why that set off your rockets, I dunno, but it wasn’t that big a statement, nor does it mean I’m some sort of deranged Luddite who wants us all to live by exchanging nuts, berries, and sea shells! After all, we still need to build the starships for our search for Eden…

Well, since you called me “big horse” and all…okay.
