The Mrs loves fruity vodka martinis (please don’t start on gin vs vodka :smack: ). She loves sweet and fruity. You know that pink punk from Fridays or a cosmo made with grape vodka? That’s what she loves.

She also love ginger and all the ginger martinis are citrus based. She despises citrus flavors. So how can I make a fruity/gingery vodka martini?

I don’t think the gin vs vodka is going to be the big issue here. 😉

Assuming you’re doing something like vodka + ginger syrup + juice, instead of citrus, you could try something tropical for your juice, like pineapple or passionfruit. That should pair fine with ginger. Even peach juice I think would work.

And, of course, googling pineapple ginger martini does reveal it to be [a thing](http://www.diffordsguide.com/cocktails/recipe/1530/pineapple-and-ginger-martini).

As does [passionfruit and ginger](http://www.miami.com/clink-ginger-passion-martini-article) (although they also add a splash of cranberry to it.)

Let’s see if peach is out there too… [Sure enough, but slightly different](http://redstonegrill.wordpress.com/2011/06/14/redstones-ginger-peach-martini/) than what I had thought of. A couple other variations exist, too

It’s nigh impossible to be original these days…

Just this morning I found a recipe for [strawberry-ginger jam](http://wickedgoodkitchen.com/strawberry-ginger-jam-paleo-style/). That sounds like a good combo. Make your pseudo-martini according to one of the recipes you found, only with strawberry instead of citrus. Or just thin the jam with a little water and some vodka.

Save a step and pick up a ginger vodka. My favorite is Yazi.

**Parasol**

1.5 oz. Absolut Pear vodka
.75 oz pear liqueur
.75 oz Sweet & Sour mix
.75 oz. simple syrup
splash (small) maraschino liqueur

Shake over ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a cherry.

To “gingerize” it, toss in a half teaspoon of freshly grated ginger before shaking. Strain through a small seive to catch the root bits from muddling up your presentation.

All these are ginger ale, but still…

Well you can start with the most basic: Copperhead. 1 part vodka to 5 parts ginger ale.

Frisky Steve: 2 oz vodka, 3 oz champagne, 6 oz ginger ale

Sweet Summer: 3 oz raspberry vodka, 6 oz ginger ale, splash with cranberry juice

Jim’s special: 2 oz vodka, 1 oz cherry brandy, splash of grenadine, and fill rest with ginger ale
