It appears that so far it is only the motorcycle driver’s opinion that the car driver is going to be prosecuted. At least based on this article. The motorcyclist should be cited for unsafe passing - being in a hurry is no excuse. The car driver should be prosecuted for something like vehicular assault (at a minimum) and evaluated for mental stability. Perhaps not in that order. ---

the comments on that Jalopnik article are an utter shitshow. I can’t believe how many people are sitting there saying “well, they were _both_ assholes” as though crossing over a double yellow line is somehow just as bad as actively trying to kill two people. ---

There always seems to be a lot of this sociopathic behavior displayed in road rage incidents. I’ve had a guy in an SUV swerve through literally four lanes of traffic to try and keep me from passing, dude I understand you are angry for some reason when I want to pass and you’re driving 20+ miles under the speed limit, but you are not only endangering yourself and me, but everybody else in traffic. Same thing with this guy, even if he could justify some sort of anger at the guy driving the motorcycle, its ok to also possibly kill the helpless passenger who has no real control over the situation? ---

Two weeks ago, I had some cretin in a mini-van try to to the same thing to me on I-90 just outside of Erie PA. I managed to avoid getting clipped, but I had a rather tense ride into the median. In a better world, it would not only be legal to kill drivers who do this, it would be considered a moral imperative. ---
