Esprix- there was a thread about red light cameras and photo radar recently, check it out. There is some interesting info about the practice, although enforcement can differ between jurisdictions, as much of the CA vehicle code is “at officer’s discretion.”

Nobody likes to get caught, but as a general rule these are at intersections where accidents are/were common, and so for good reason.
