Wow at all these negative driving sentiments. I make no apologies for being a car nut, and one of my fave pastimes is just to cruise somewhere while listening to my tunes and enjoying the breeze and skies. Same planet different multiverses… [poll coming in 5 4 3…] ---

I used to love driving, but that was back when cars were interesting, parking was usually free, highways had character, and traffic congestion was confined to ten hours a week. I can’t wait to get rid our personal cars and take autonomous vehicles where ever we need to go. ---

I used to love driving and would jump in my car to relax. I drove cross country 3 times and used to make very long vacation trips where the drive was fun. Now long drives wear me down. Also the traffic in NJ is really terrible these days. ---

I don’t hate it (unless i need to do a lot of it) but enjoy? That’s bizarre to me. It’s just a chore. ---

I picked 4 in the driving poll, but it really depends on the kind of driving. I don’t really like my commute, mostly because I get frustrated by the traffic. But I love a weekend drive on a twisty back road in my convertible. I’d pick 5 if it was just limited to that type of driving. ---

Depends utterly on where and why you’re (I’m really) driving. I love controlling responsive machines in real time dynamic situations. I let HAL drive in traffic jams. I let HAL drive when the top is down, the music is up, the weather is perfect, and there’s incredible scenery to watch. ---

It’s been about 15 years since I gave up my [favorite type of driving](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/ask-the-high-performance-driving-instructor/354791), but I still enjoy regular street driving, although not as much as running on the track. ---
